Don't Own A Motorcycle?
No problem, use one of ours.
Compulsory Basic Training or CBT is the first step for people who wish to ride a motorcycle or scooter.
CBT is a legal requirement for anyone who wishes to ride on the road as a learner motorcycalist.
A CBT will normally be completed in a day and will equip you with the basic skills required to enable you to ride safely.
A CBT certificate remains valid for 2 years and enables a person to ride motorcycle or scooters up to 125cc.
Don‘t worry you will not be expected to ride on the public road right away. We have a private area at each of our stores where we will teach you how to control the motorcycle/scooter, and allow you to become confident and comfortable on the motorcycle/scooter before heading out onto the road.
In addition to learning to physically ride a motorcycle/scooter you will also be taught basic road rules. This includes traffic lights, roundabouts, junctions etc. This is mainly for the benefit of non-drivers who have no previous road experience but serves as a useful refresher for those who can drive.
A test pass on a 125cc Motorcycle will allow you to ride any size bike with a power output of up to 33bhp (25kw). Or you can ride a more powerful bike that is fitted with a 33bhp restrictor kit.
This 33bhp restriction lasts for 2 years, after which time your licence will automatically mature to allow you to ride any size of bike with no power restriction.
If you are 21 or over you can take a Direct Access test also known as DAS this will allow you to by pass the two year restriction. This test must be taken on a bike with at least 46.6bhp usually a 500cc bike. A DAS pass will allow you to ride any bike with no power restrictions.
Required
- Both the photo card and paper part of your license
- Helmet (one can be provided)
- Legal documents if you are using your own bike (tax, insurance and MOT).
Recommended
- Warm, waterproof and protective clothing including boots and gloves.

Whichever route you choose, a theory test pass is required before you can undertake a practical motorcycle test.
The theory test is not difficult providing you prepare for it. Study books are available at all good bookstores.
